As part of our efforts to make the race environmentally friendly, we plan to eliminate plastic water bottles, use a hybrid car as the 8K Race pace car, use only biodegradable cups at water stops and organize a shoe drop for recycling athletic shoes. We also plan to have a squad of young volunteers – all dressed in identifiable green t-shirts – who will circulate at the race and make sure that items are being recycled and other environmentally friendly practices are being used.
